Education in Emergencies

All children and youth have a right to education—even amid conflict, disaster, or displacement. The number of school-aged children in crises worldwide requiring urgent support to access quality education exceeds 234 million, and according to Unesco, 127 million are out of school. Education in Emergencies (EiE) programmes help reduce barriers, limit disruptions, ensure continuity of learning, and attempt to improve education quality while addressing protection concerns.

The EiE Working Group comprises EiE practitioners and researchers from renowned Swiss organisations and institutions. RECI-FoBBIZ offers a platform for its members and their partners to organise events and discuss relevant themes in EiE. In the past, events and exchanges have been organised on education in refugee or migration contexts, EiE programming across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, higher education in emergencies, teacher training in crisis contexts, and quality standards for EiE.
