Education in Emergencies

Children and youth have a right to education, even in emergency situations. Yet 72 million crisis-affected children and youth are currently out of school, with a majority, 84%, living in protracted crises. Education in Emergency (EiE) programs are designed to minimise the barriers that emergencies pose, mitigate disruptions in education, enable the continuity of learning, and, whenever feasible, enhance the quality of education while addressing protection concerns. RECI is offering a platform to discuss relevant themes in EiE among its members and partners. In the past, events and exchanges have been organised on education in refugee or migration contexts, EiE programming across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus and gender-sensitive EiE for example.
