Testimonial: InZone Project Empowering Refugees

Marion Panizzon, individual member of RECI and English tutor in the project InZone at the University of Geneva, shares her experience and the strengths of InZone’s innovative learning programme.

For the past four years, I have been an online English language tutor for adult refugee learners with InZone at the University of Geneva, which uses a unique “learning ecosystem” approach. As tutors, we work with Arizona State University’s (ASU) online English curriculum, delivered through the Education for Humanity learning portal. This curriculum includes English modules that span A2 to B2 language proficiency levels.

InZone manages the tutoring program and directly recruits tutors, who typically dedicate 1–2 hours per week to conversing with 1–6 adult learners preparing for academic programs in English. Our role as tutors is to prepare lessons using ASU coursework and to teach core skills in English grammar, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and writing. The primary goal is to equip refugee learners with the English language skills necessary for employment opportunities or to access higher education courses.” says Marion Panizzon.
