The “Sound the Alarm” campaign launched by Alliance Sud warns against the major budget cuts for Swiss international cooperation, currently discussed in parliament. These reductions threaten to compromise essential humanitarian and development projects in health, education, and food security in the most vulnerable regions.
These cuts will not only weaken efforts to combat poverty and promote stability but also damage Switzerland’s humanitarian reputation, which is built on a long tradition of solidarity and peace.
Support for the reconstruction of Ukraine, which Swiss authorities are considering financing in part with these budgets, must be achieved without affecting funds previously allocated to developing countries.
Sound the alarm and join the upcoming mobilisations in various Swiss cities!
RECI firmly supports this initiative. We emphasise that education is a pillar of human development and a key tool for long-term peace and prosperity. We invite you to read our position statement on the financing of international cooperation for 2025-2028 to better understand the importance of preserving these funds.
