Colombia is facing an upsurge in the forced recruitment of young people into armed groups, and a rise in violence of all kinds. To raise awareness of these realities and their impact on school attendance and the quality of education, an awareness-raising campaign has been launched, with concrete proposals for action.
The “Mi Vida, Mi Momento” campaign, launched by Terre des Hommes Suisse in Colombia, addresses the grave issues facing young people in the country, particularly in the aftermath of the pandemic and ongoing crises. In Colombia, children and adolescents are increasingly vulnerable due to humanitarian crises, climate challenges, and a fragile peace process.
Schools, once safe spaces, have become sites of risk, with forced recruitment by armed groups and rising violence affecting both rural and urban areas. The campaign aims to protect young people from these dangers by providing support and advocating for their rights, focusing on the importance of ensuring children are not exposed to recruitment and violence. Through this initiative, Terre des Hommes Suisse hopes to offer a hopeful future for Colombia’s youth.
