NORRAG Special Issue 8, « The Education-Training-Work Continuums: Pathways to Socio-Professional Inclusion for Youth and Adults, » examines the gaps between education, training, and decent work, highlighting how these discontinuities lead to exclusion and inequality, particularly for marginalised groups. The contributors argue for treating these three areas as interconnected, which would help include those often left out of traditional education-to-employment pathways.
The issue features 28 contributions from global experts, organised into six sections, covering historical changes, innovations, and the impact of global crises on employment. It emphasises the need for a holistic approach to support undereducated and unemployed youth and adults, particularly through systems that reintegrate them into the education-training-work continuum.
The Special Issue advocates for policy reforms to better connect education, training, and work, improving access to decent jobs and fostering socio-professional inclusion. By viewing these areas as a continuum, it calls for a more inclusive approach to address the needs of marginalised individuals, creating a more equitable global system.
