The Swiss government has decided to remove basic education from the 2025-2028 international cooperation strategy and to focus solely on vocational training and education in emergency situations.
This decision jeopardises all of Switzerland’s efforts in the field of education and risks depriving millions of people of their right to education.
❌ Without basic education, there can be no effective vocational training.
❌ Without basic education, it is impossible to guarantee education in emergency situations.
❌ Without basic education, entire generations are condemned to exclusion and poverty.
RECI, its members and partners strongly oppose this decision and call on the Federal Council to reconsider it.
