On 25th September, for SDG Flag Day, the Agenda 2030 platform, of which RECI is a member, organised an event in Bern. It brought together 17 Swiss personalities from various sectors, united to reaffirm their commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The main aim of the day was to renew Switzerland’s commitment to achieving these crucial goals, while calling for collective action to accelerate the necessary progress.
These goals are not only global aspirations but must also be translated into concrete actions at the local and national levels. The SDG Flag Day provided an opportunity to address the current challenges Switzerland faces in its pursuit of sustainable development worldwide. The campaign highlights the importance of education as a key catalyst for achieving the other SDGs, particularly in the fight against poverty and the promotion of equal opportunities.
At the same time, the event marked the launch of an online campaign, which will run until February 2025. This campaign aims to raise further awareness of the SDGs and highlight the efforts of individuals and organisations contributing to a sustainable future. The “Together for the SDGs” website will serve as a platform to share local testimonies and initiatives, thus encouraging everyone’s participation.
