Promoting good quality education for all is a central aim of the Education 2030 Agenda. This means that teaching staff and other players in education systems must be well prepared and trained to carry out this important task. In developing countries in particular, the conditions are often not right: teachers find themselves in front of their classrooms with no real training! Those involved in international cooperation are called upon to invest in the initial and in-service training of teaching staff.

The RECI Thematic Day in autumn 2019 is on the theme of “Teacher Training for Quality Education TTQE (working title)” and looks at the following questions: what factors influence the quality of teacher training? And how can we, as NGOs and RECI member organisations, promote the quality of teacher training in our partner countries?

RECI members, partners and interested experts met on 19 November 2019 to discuss initial and in-service teacher training for quality education. The Thematic Day was organised by RECI in cooperation with the Teacher Training for Quality Education TTQE working group.

Paul Gerhard and Silvan Oberholzer from NORRAG video-recorded the inputs and statements made by the speakers following the Thematic Day.
