This question concluded the <strong>RECI Education Forum 2024<\/strong>, in which Paeradigms participated today. Attended by about 60 people from nearly 20 different countries including Nepal, Haiti, Uganda, Moldova, Ben\u00edn, Albania, as well as Switzerland, the forum picked up on the themes from RECI&#8217;s November Forum, focusing on the educational gaps challenging the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4).<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"auto\">The question posed to participants \u2013 what can you do tomorrow morning, very concretely, assuming each of us has a 15% chance of having an impact? \u2013 sparked several responses:<\/div><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block11\">\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><ul class=\"mUE6b e6eRs\"><li class=\"bH-u4\" dir=\"auto\" aria-level=\"1\"><p id=\"viewer-ngczj198\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"eia1P\">Introduce mother tongue education\u00a0to preserve cultural and language diversity.<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"bH-u4\" dir=\"auto\" aria-level=\"1\"><p id=\"viewer-qzezv201\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"eia1P\">Follow Gandhi&#8217;s advice\u00a0to &#8222;be the change,&#8220; starting with changing personal attitudes and patriarchal frameworks.<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"bH-u4\" dir=\"auto\" aria-level=\"1\"><p id=\"viewer-s7662204\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"eia1P\">Network more\u00a0to leverage the strengths and advantages of others.<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"bH-u4\" dir=\"auto\" aria-level=\"1\"><p id=\"viewer-no4r8207\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"eia1P\">Make training and events accessible\u00a0to diverse rights holders.<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"bH-u4\" dir=\"auto\" aria-level=\"1\"><p id=\"viewer-qmb5n210\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"eia1P\">Engage in continuous advocacy\u00a0for sustainable educational funding.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block12\">\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><h2 id=\"viewer-rlfir4698\" class=\"EPjR3 lp4XE e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"usZt1\">Diverse Themes and Lively Discussions<\/span><\/h2><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-gv67f214\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"eia1P\">The forum covered ten different arguments in English and French over the course of the day, addressing topics such as &#8222;How to avoid &#8218;killing the culture through education&#8216; in formal education&#8220; and &#8222;Human Rights (e.g., LGBT rights) in a cultural context.&#8220; Parallel sessions allowed smaller groups to hear the diverse perspectives of participants from around the world.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block16\">\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><h2 id=\"viewer-6ndtc216\" class=\"EPjR3 lp4XE e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"usZt1\">Open Space Methodology<\/span><\/h2><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-cuzs0218\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"eia1P\">A particularly interesting aspect of the forum was the use of the &#8222;open space&#8220; methodology to manage the event.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-ywqsf220\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"eia1P\">&#8222;Open Space&#8220; is a technique for running meetings where participants create and manage the agenda themselves. This approach allows participants to take ownership of the issues and collaboratively develop solutions. It was founded on the observation that the most productive exchanges at conferences often occur during coffee breaks, when people decide for themselves whom to talk to and what to discuss.<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-vun5k7490\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"eia1P\">Using the &#8222;open space&#8220; method in a forum for seasoned educational professionals was a bold move. RECI Executive Director Beatrice Schulter and Communications Officer, Nadine Bernasconi introduced this approach to the RECI network at the November Forum 2023, and it proved to be a great success. Bringing it to an online environment was certainly a challenge, but it worked!<\/span><\/p><\/div><div data-hook=\"rcv-block22\">\u00a0<\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><h2 id=\"viewer-28xan224\" class=\"EPjR3 lp4XE e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"usZt1\">Participant Feedback<\/span><\/h2><\/div><div data-breakout=\"normal\"><p id=\"viewer-flhyz5619\" class=\"_0e-9U _0lgUs e6eRs -MlB1\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"eia1P\">Paeradigms Assistant Project Manager Jessica Jossias, who joined the forum from Mozambique, was enthusiastic. She remarked, &#8222;It gives the opportunity for the participants to raise other topics that are relevant to the discussion and creates space for inclusivity and diversity of approaches. It removes the pressure from the moderator and the participants about how, what, and when things are going to happen. All contributions are valid.
